Washington [US]: The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has unveiled the first group of presenters for the 2025 Oscars, featuring Robert Downey Jr., Emma Stone, Cillian Murphy, and Da’Vine Joy Randolph, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
All four stars took home an Academy Award at last year’s ceremony. Downey Jr. won Best Supporting Actor for his role as Lewis Strauss in Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, while Murphy claimed Best Actor for portraying the film’s titular character, Robert Oppenheimer. Randolph won Best Supporting Actress for her performance in The Holdovers, and Stone secured her second Best Actress Oscar for her role in Yorgos Lanthimos’ Poor Things. Stone previously won in the same category for La La Land in 2017.
Oscar Nominations & Historic Firsts
This year’s nominations have already made history. Emilia Perez received 13 nominations, making it the most-nominated non-English-language film in Oscar history. It was followed closely by The Brutalist and Wicked, which each earned 10 nominations.
Extended Voting & Wildfire Tribute
The Academy extended voting twice this year due to the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles, which have caused at least 28 deaths and widespread property damage. The Oscars telecast on March 2 will include a special acknowledgment of those who bravely fought against the wildfires.
Best Actor Showdown
The Best Actor category features an exciting lineup of talent, including:
- Timothée Chalamet (A Complete Unknown)
- Adrien Brody (The Brutalist)
- Colman Domingo (Sing Sing)
- Ralph Fiennes (Conclave)
- Sebastian Stan (The Apprentice)
Brody, who won an Oscar for The Pianist in 2003 at just 29, remains the youngest Best Actor winner in history.
