Donald Trump Claims He Has ‘Settled’ Seven Wars, Including Russia-Ukraine Conflict

Washington, D.C.: US President Donald Trump, speaking to reporters at the White House on Monday, claimed to have settled seven wars, adding the Russia-Ukraine conflict to his latest list. The number has fluctuated between six and seven, and on this occasion, he moved from the word “stopped” to “settled.”

“I thought that of the seven that we settled, this was going to be the easiest, but you never what happens in a war,” Trump said in response to a question about his recent mediation efforts. He has met with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in quick succession this month and stated, “I think we will have a deal soon.”

The President also repeated his long-standing claim that he “stopped potential nuclear war” between India and Pakistan in May—a claim that India has repeatedly denied. Trump has made this assertion over two dozen times since the incident, but the Indian government has maintained that the ceasefire was a result of direct talks between the two countries’ military officials and that there was no third-party intervention.

When asked about the slow progress in the Russia-Ukraine talks, Trump blamed “bombs being loaded up in Kyiv” as a hindrance to the mediation process, which he said was close to a deal “every time.” He has also claimed that four of the seven wars he “stopped” were resolved through the use of trade tariffs as leverage.

The inclusion of the Russia-Ukraine conflict on his list of “settled” wars, while the conflict remains ongoing, marks a new, more expansive claim in his public statements about his foreign policy successes. His claims about his role in various international conflicts, including those in Africa and Asia, have often been met with skepticism and have been described by critics as a way to boost his public image.
