A dog in Florida helped find his 86-year-old grandma after she went lost on a late-night walk. This was a touching show of loyalty and intellect. The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office has published a touching bodycam video of a dog named Eeyore leading Deputy Devon Miller right to the elderly woman in Destin, Florida.
Officials said that the old woman took Eeyore for a walk at 10:30 p.m. local time on September 25 but never came back home. After more than an hour had elapsed, her husband, who was becoming more and more frightened, called the police and said she was missing.
The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office later posted the bodycam video on Facebook. It shows the man seeming worried as he tells the officer, “She just takes that dog, but she never takes more than 10 or 15 minutes.” It’s been almost an hour now. “It’s been more than an hour now.”
Deputy Miller saw Eeyore while patrolling the neighborhood a few minutes later. The dog seemed to know the deputy was there and went toward the patrol car in a stunning moment caught on camera. Miller said, “Hi, baby, where’s your mama?” “Show me,” Eeyore said, and right away he took her over a front yard and into a golf course nearby.
The missing grandmother was laying on the sidewalk, hurt but still awake. Miller soon went over to her and calmed her down by saying, “[Eeyore] wouldn’t leave.” He kept coming back to me. He raced to my car, and I told him to bring me to mommy. He ran back here.
The old woman, who was clearly upset, thanked and loved her devoted friend. “Good boy.” Good boy. I’m not even his owner; I’m his grandma. “You’re such a good boy,” she murmured, smiling with relief.
The video of Eeyore’s brave move rapidly went viral, getting tens of thousands of comments and likes on social media. People who saw the video filled the comments area with admiration for the dog’s loyalty and fast thinking, calling him a “true guardian angel.”
The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office also praised Eeyore, saying that his unshakable loyalty and spontaneous acts made all the difference that night. The wonderful rescue has subsequently become a great example of why people frequently say that dogs are “man’s best friend.”
