In a strong diplomatic push against Pakistan-sponsored terrorism, DMK MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi led an all-party Indian delegation to Greece, calling for greater international recognition and action against state-sponsored terror networks.
Speaking to media, Kanimozhi underlined that India can no longer distinguish between terror and state-sponsored terror, and urged bodies like the European Union and United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to hold state actors accountable.
“We have conveyed that India has been hurt by cross-border terrorism from Pakistan… We’ve also emphasised that the EU and UNSC must ensure accountability. Greece, with its historical ties with India, understood our position well,” she said.
Operation Sindoor: A United Front Against Terrorism
The delegation’s outreach is part of “Operation Sindoor,” India’s broader diplomatic initiative to highlight its zero-tolerance stance on terrorism, particularly in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.
Capt Brijesh Chowta (Retd), BJP MP, stated:
“Operation Sindoor is not only about dealing with Pakistan. It’s about dismantling global terror infrastructure. India is leading this battle in a Dharmic, principled way.”
Strong Diaspora Support
AAP MP Dr. Ashok Kumar Mittal highlighted the Indian diaspora’s strong support in Greece for India’s position and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
“People here openly said they would support India on all global forums and denounce Pakistan-sponsored terrorism. They reaffirmed India’s image as a peace-loving nation,” Mittal stated.
Shared Civilizational Values
Former Indian Ambassador to the EU, Manjeev Singh Puri, stressed the importance of civilizational nations like Greece and India uniting against global terror:
“Greece understands terrorism deeply and knows the origin of many such issues lies in Pakistan. They expressed solidarity and support for India’s position.”
Delegation Composition and Mission
The multi-party delegation led by Kanimozhi includes:
- Rajeev Rai (Samajwadi Party)
- Mian Altaf Ahmad (J&K National Conference)
- Brijesh Chowta (BJP)
- Prem Chand Gupta (RJD)
- Ashok Kumar Mittal (AAP)
- Manjeev S. Puri and Jawed Ashraf (former diplomats)
Their mission: to engage leaders in Spain, Greece, Slovenia, Latvia, and Russia, counter global misinformation, and present India’s case on cross-border terrorism following the Pahalgam tragedy.
India’s diplomatic offensive continues to gain traction internationally as it seeks to expose and isolate Pakistan for its role in perpetuating terrorism, while reinforcing strategic alliances with countries that share ancient civilizational ties and democratic values.
