Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], March 12: After a successful theatrical run, Disney’s Mufasa: The Lion King is all set for its digital release. The film will be available for streaming on JioHotstar starting from March 26.
Directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Barry Jenkins, Mufasa: The Lion King became a global sensation, earning over USD 700 million at the box office and securing its place among the top 10 biggest global releases of 2024.
In the Hindi version of the film, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan lends his voice to the character of Mufasa. His sons, Aryan Khan and AbRam Khan, also feature in the film, voicing Simba and young Mufasa, respectively. For the Telugu dub, renowned actor Mahesh Babu voices the iconic character of Mufasa.
The official synopsis of Mufasa: The Lion King reads: “Exploring the unlikely rise of the beloved king of the Pride Lands, Mufasa: The Lion King enlists Rafiki to relay the legend of Mufasa to young lion cub Kiara, daughter of Simba and Nala, with Timon and Pumbaa lending their signature schtick. Told in flashbacks, the story introduces Mufasa as an orphaned cub, lost and alone until he meets a sympathetic lion named Taka–the heir to a royal bloodline. The chance meeting sets in motion an expansive journey of an extraordinary group of misfits searching for their destiny–their bonds will be tested as they work together to evade a threatening and deadly foe.”
