BJP MP Dinesh Sharma praised Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for his efforts in boosting economic growth through religious tourism ahead of the Mahakumbh 2025 in Prayagraj, describing his approach as “unprecedented” and deserving of recognition.
Sharma’s remarks came as a response to concerns raised by Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav about the state government’s preparedness for the massive religious event.
“The last Kumbh Mela held under the leadership of CM Yogi was hailed worldwide. This time, around 40 crore people are expected to visit,” Sharma told media. “After the Kumbh, don’t call him ‘Yogi Baba’ but call him ‘Arth Prabandhan Baba’ (Economic Management Baba). He is improving the economy through promoting religious tourism. Such work is unprecedented and must be praised,” he added.
Akhilesh Yadav Raises Concerns
Earlier, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav expressed skepticism about the BJP-led state government’s readiness for the Mahakumbh.
“Kumbh should end with fervour. If the government wants any help, our party members are ready to help,” Yadav said, noting that several projects related to the event appeared incomplete. “How are they going to complete all that in just 13 days?”
Sharma’s Response to Opposition
In response, Dinesh Sharma invited leaders from the SP and Congress to witness the preparations themselves.
“Leaders of Samajwadi Party and Congress must have attended the Kumbh Mela earlier too, but they should visit this time. You will see the arrangements and witness the transformation,” Sharma stated.
