Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], July 2: Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh has put to rest speculation about his exit from Border 2 by sharing behind-the-scenes moments from the film’s set on Instagram.
In the video, Diljit can be seen wearing an Indian Air Force uniform while the iconic Border song “Sandese Aate Hain” plays in the background. He captioned the post with “Border 2” and a clapboard emoji, signaling his continued involvement in the highly anticipated sequel.
Diljit has recently faced backlash over his collaboration with Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in Sardaar Ji 3, which premiered internationally on June 27 but wasn’t released in India. The controversy intensified in the wake of rising India-Pakistan tensions after the Pahalgam terror attack.
Amid the uproar, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) had written to the makers of Border 2 urging them to sever ties with Diljit. Their letter warned that continuing the collaboration risked sending a conflicting message, especially given the sensitive political climate.
Despite FWICE’s appeal, the makers of Border 2 have not issued a public statement. Diljit’s Instagram post appears to confirm that he remains a key part of the film.
Border 2 is the sequel to the 1997 blockbuster Border, backed by producers Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, JP Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta, with Anurag Singh directing. The film’s ensemble cast also features Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, and Ahan Shetty.
