Dhurandhar 2 Gets 24-Hour Shows, Pushes DDLJ from Iconic Slot at Maratha Mandir

The massive demand for Dhurandhar: The Revenge has led theatres across India to introduce round-the-clock screenings, including rare post-midnight shows. Starring Ranveer Singh, the film has already sold nearly 15 lakh tickets in advance bookings, making it one of the biggest premieres in Indian cinema history.

With its nearly four-hour runtime limiting the number of daily shows, exhibitors are extending screening hours to meet audience demand. Major cinema chains in cities like Mumbai, Thane, and Ahmedabad have added late-night and early-morning slots, with shows running from as early as 1:50 AM to late evening.

The film’s popularity has even impacted Mumbai’s iconic Maratha Mandir, where the legendary Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge has been screened daily for nearly 30 years. To accommodate Dhurandhar 2, DDLJ has been shifted from its long-standing 11:30 AM slot to an early morning timing.

Advance bookings for the film have shattered records, with paid previews alone selling close to 8 lakh tickets and earning around ₹35 crore, surpassing previous benchmarks. Globally, the film has crossed ₹125 crore in pre-sales, including a record $5 million in North America.

Directed by Aditya Dhar, the spy thriller is set to release on March 19 and also stars R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, and Sanjay Dutt. Trade experts predict the film could challenge the long-standing box office record of Dangal.
