Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], April 5: In a heartfelt tribute to the late legendary actor Manoj Kumar, veteran Bollywood star Dharmendra shared a nostalgic throwback picture on Saturday, reminiscing about their cherished moments together.
Taking to Instagram, Dharmendra posted a vintage photograph showing both stars smiling warmly. In his emotional caption, he wrote, “Manoj, mere yaar tere saath beta har pal bahut yaad ayega,” expressing how deeply he will miss the time spent with his dear friend.
Following the news of Manoj Kumar’s passing, Dharmendra also visited the actor’s residence to pay his respects.
Manoj Kumar was cremated with full state honours at the Pawan Hans crematorium in Mumbai on Saturday. The funeral saw the presence of several Bollywood personalities, including Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Salim Khan, and Arbaaz Khan.
The iconic actor and filmmaker passed away at 4:03 am on April 4 at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai after a prolonged illness.
Born as Harikrishan Goswami on July 24, 1937, in Abbottabad (now in Pakistan), Manoj Kumar rose to prominence in the 1960s and 70s and was fondly known as “Bharat Kumar” for his powerful performances in patriotic films like Upkar, Purab Aur Paschim, and Shaheed.
He was not only a celebrated actor but also a visionary director and producer. His directorial debut Upkar (1967) won the National Film Award for Second Best Feature Film, solidifying his legacy in Indian cinema.
