New Delhi [India]: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan strongly criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his remarks on the National Education Policy (NEP), accusing him of lacking knowledge about India’s history and languages.
Pradhan’s Counterattack
Pradhan accused Gandhi of disrespecting the constitutional system and spreading misinformation about India’s education policies:
“The leaders of Congress and Lok Sabha LoP know nothing about the history of the nation, its languages, and the constitutional system. They are opposing the NEP without understanding it. PM Modi has said many times that all Indian languages are national languages,” Pradhan told ANI.
The minister emphasized that the University Grants Commission (UGC), Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), and NCERT are actively working to introduce education in all 22 scheduled languages of India.
“UGC has made it a priority to publish books in regional languages. Education will be made available in all 22 scheduled languages,” he added.
BJP’s Stand on Language and Education
Pradhan also underscored BJP’s respect for Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and defended the role of Governors as university chancellors, stating that this system has existed both before and after independence.
“The BJP has given utmost respect to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. University chancellors have always been Governors, even before independence. Rahul Gandhi’s stand is politically motivated, aimed at creating confusion in society. He never understood India,” Pradhan stated.
Rahul Gandhi’s Remarks
Earlier in the day, while addressing a DMK students’ protest against Draft UGC regulations, Rahul Gandhi accused the RSS of trying to impose a single idea, history, tradition, and language across the country.
