Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh) [India]: The world’s largest spiritual gathering, the Maha Kumbh Mela, commenced on the auspicious occasion of Paush Purnima, drawing devotees from across the globe to Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.
A Russian devotee, currently working in Europe, expressed her excitement, saying, “We came to Kumbh Mela for the first time in our life, so we are very excited. You see the real India and the true power of India is their people. I’m shaking because of the vibe of the people, the holy place. I love India, mera Bharat mahaan!”
Another devotee, Jeremy, shared his experience, stating that it has been wonderful to witness “Ganga Maa, Yamuna Maa.” He mentioned practicing Sanatan Dharma for seven years, adding, “The logic, it makes sense. There’s the faith, but also there’s no blind faith. It’s beautiful.”
Jonathan, visiting India for the first time, described his experience as “excellent.” He shared, “I think the people are lovely and I think the food’s been amazing and so forth. And seeing all of the pilgrimage sites and holy sites and so forth, temples, have been amazing. We’re hoping to take one of the Royal baths and so forth. So yeah, it’s exciting.”
Devotees from South Africa, Brazil, and Spain also expressed their gratitude for being part of the event. A Brazilian devotee, Francisco, said, “It’s amazing here; India is the spiritual heart of the world… The water is cold, but the heart is filled with warmth.”
This year’s Maha Kumbh holds special significance as it coincides with a rare celestial alignment that occurs only once every 144 years.
Authorities in Prayagraj have implemented comprehensive traffic plans to ensure smooth vehicular movement and the safety of devotees. Over 45 crore participants are expected to attend the event, which is being celebrated after 12 years. The Maha Kumbh Mela will conclude on February 26.
