Delivery Agent Posing As Army Officer Arrested In Delhi For Allegedly Drugging And Raping Woman Doctor

New Delhi: A lady doctor in Delhi was allegedly raped by a man who had been pretending to be an Army officer in an online chat on Instagram that began out as innocent.

Aarav Malik, the accused, is a delivery driver for a well-known online store and lives in Chhattarpur. The police apprehended him after the victim filed a complaint.

The Online Trick
The Delhi Police say that the doctor, who works at a well-known hospital in South Delhi, initially met Aarav Malik on Instagram in April. They kept talking on the same social media site until September.

Aarav is said to have pretended to be an Indian Army lieutenant stationed in Kashmir to make the woman believe him and gain her trust. DCP Amit Goel of the Southwest stated that the suspect went to considerable measures to make his disguise more convincing. For example, he sent the doctor pictures and videos of himself in a military uniform and even shared certain paperwork to keep the intricate hoax going.

The Alleged Attack
On October 16, things became worse when the woman asked Aarav to come to her home in Safdarjung, South Delhi.

According to the police, when Aarav got to her house, he gave the doctor candy that had a sedative in it. The woman passed out after eating the tainted chocolates. The police also said that Aarav Malik then raped her.

The victim quickly went to the police on October 16 to report the rape. A high-ranking police officer confirmed the timetable, saying that the woman contacted Malik on Instagram in April and that they kept in touch until September.

Legal Action and a Bigger Look Into Things
The police opened a case at the Safdarjung Enclave Police Station after the woman filed a complaint. Aarav Malik has been arrested and charged under several pertinent laws, including those that deal with

Rape

Threatening someone with a crime

Cheating by Pretending to Be Someone Else

Making a Fake Document

Hurt by a substance like poison

The research has also shown that the doctor in Delhi may not have been the only one they were after. Police said that Aarav Malik tried to use the same trick—pretending to be an Army officer—to go after other women on social media. Authorities are now looking into whether he sexually abused any of these other possible victims.
