The police at Mopa Airport have detained a YouTuber from Delhi for making and posting a video that reportedly made false claims regarding Goa’s second airport, which opened in 2023.
On Wednesday, police arrested the suspect, who goes by the name Akshay Vashisht. This happened after the Goa Police’s Social Media Monitoring Cell filed a First Information Report (FIR) on September 15. Superintendent of Police (Crime) Rahul Gupta says that Vashisht was found and arrested in Dwarka.
Gupta stated, “The accused had one phone, one laptop, and one camera.”
Police said that Akshay Vashisht, who makes videos about ghosts and horror stories on his YouTube accounts “Akshay Vashisht Horror” and “Akshay Vashisht Horror Show,” had just put out a video called “Goa ka Haunted Airport.” The police say that the video made “false, malicious, and superstitious claims” regarding Manohar International Airport, Mopa, in order to “create fear and public alarm” and get people to watch his channel.
Others have said similar things about the airport before the YouTuber. In 2024, Goa Forward Party leader Vijai Sardesai also talked about allegations about the airport and asked in the state assembly why people from Goa weren’t working there after 10:30 p.m.
The airport is open all day and night, and it gets planes all day and night.
