Delhi Schools Receive Bomb Threats Via Email; Police Launch Probe, No Explosives Found

Two schools in Delhi—one located in Chanakyapuri and the other in Dwarka—received bomb threats via email on Monday, triggering immediate emergency responses. According to reports from reliable source authorities swiftly evacuated the premises and launched search operations.

The Delhi Police, after conducting thorough checks at both locations, stated:

“The threat was sent to two schools through the mail. One of these is in Chanakyapuri and the other in Dwarka. Nothing suspicious has been found so far during the search.”

Enhanced Safety Protocols in Place

Following a series of such incidents earlier this year, the Directorate of Education (DoE) had already issued a comprehensive 115-point Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) in May, designed to strengthen school safety protocols in response to bomb threats. The SOP was developed in coordination with the Delhi High Court and various national and local agencies.

The guidelines apply to all government, aided, minority, and private recognised unaided schools in the capital.

Key safety measures include:

  • Regular mock drills for preparedness
  • Installation of CCTV surveillance
  • Strict access control to school premises
  • Pre-identified evacuation routes
  • Emergency support for children with disabilities
  • Maintaining updated parent contact databases

School heads are expected to lead emergency responses, working closely with police and disaster response teams. The SOP explicitly mentions:

“Every threat will be treated as real,”
urging schools to alert authorities immediately without causing panic.

Police and Parental Response

While Delhi Police continue to monitor the situation, they have assured parents that no explosive materials have been found so far.

Fire and traffic services were also deployed to secure the surrounding areas and ensure safe emergency access.

Following any such threat, the SOP advises that counselling be offered to students and staff, and classes should only resume once all safety checks are complete.

Some private schools claim adherence to these procedures, but parent groups have raised concerns about infrastructure gaps and called for transparent implementation tracking to protect student welfare.
