New Delhi [India], December 24: On Tuesday, Delhi Police conducted thorough checks in the Kalindi Kunj area of the national capital as part of efforts to identify potential illegal Bangladeshi immigrants. According to a local resident, the checks were rigorous, with police asking for basic personal information and government-issued ID cards. “They have checked here 5-6 times. They ask for residence details and government ID cards. No Bangladeshis are residing here,” the resident reported.
In a separate development, Delhi Police dismantled a major illegal immigration network, arresting 11 individuals involved in document forgery, including Aadhaar operators, tech experts, and those running fake websites. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) South, Ankit Chauhan, revealed that the arrested suspects were facilitating Bangladeshi nationals by creating counterfeit documents such as Aadhaar cards and voter IDs via fake websites. “The illegal immigrants entered India using jungle routes and express trains,” Chauhan explained.
Earlier this month, Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor directed the Chief Secretary and Commissioner of Police to launch a two-month special drive aimed at identifying and taking stringent action against illegal Bangladeshi immigrants in the city. Sources within the Delhi Police reported that over 1,000 illegal Bangladeshi immigrants have already been identified across Delhi.
The ongoing operation involves extensive door-to-door verification, document checks, and interrogations, with special teams, including local police and foreign cell units, deployed for targeted actions.
