Delhi Police Detains 12 Bangladesh Nationals For Living Without Identification

New Delhi, December 31: Delhi Police has detained 12 Bangladesh nationals who were living in various areas of South Delhi without valid identification, an official confirmed. The individuals were apprehended from locations such as Nizamuddin, Kalindi Kunj, Shaheen Bagh, and Sarita Vihar. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) South East, Ravi Kumar Singh, they have been sent to a detention camp for further processing.

“So far, we have detained 12 Bangladesh nationals across several areas, including Nizamuddin, Kalindi Kunj, Shaheen Bagh, and Sarita Vihar. They were found without proper identification, and some had been residing here for an extended period. Investigations are ongoing,” Singh said. He added that the Delhi Police has a specialized Bangladeshi cell that is conducting a thorough verification process. To date, around 1,200 people have been verified, with more checks planned.

In a separate case, Delhi Police arrested six individuals in connection with the use of fake identification cards. The action followed complaints filed by the Electoral Registration Officer about fraudulent voter ID applications. DCP Singh revealed that two FIRs had been registered after the investigation, leading to the arrest of a cyber cafe owner and five others, including two middlemen.

“We received two complaints from the Electoral Registration Officer in Okhla, regarding eight people involved in making fake voter IDs. Following an investigation, we arrested six individuals, including two middlemen and a cyber cafe owner, who facilitated the creation of fake voter IDs using fraudulent electricity bills,” Singh explained.

The police are continuing their investigation into these cases, and further actions are being taken against those involved in such fraudulent activities.
