Delhi Police Arrests Suspect Fleeing To Mumbai In Bhadohi Murder Case

New Delhi (India), January 11: Delhi Police have arrested a 31-year-old man, Amir Khan, in connection with the high-profile murder of Yogendra Bahadur Singh, the principal of Indra Bahadur Singh National Inter College in Bhadohi. Khan, a truck driver from Pratapgarh, Uttar Pradesh, was attempting to flee to Mumbai when he was intercepted by the Delhi Police Crime Branch at the city’s domestic airport.

Khan was identified as one of the assailants involved in the October 21, 2024, murder of Singh, who was shot dead while driving to his college. Two armed men on a motorcycle opened fire on Singh’s car, killing him. Following the murder, the Uttar Pradesh Police had announced a reward of Rs 50,000 for information leading to Khan’s arrest, as he had gone into hiding in Delhi’s Mustafabad area.

On January 9, a special team from the Delhi Crime Branch set up a trap at the Domestic Airport. At approximately 12:40 PM, they successfully intercepted Khan as he attempted to board a flight. During questioning, Khan confessed to his role in the murder, stating that he and several accomplices had been hired to carry out the killing as part of a revenge plot.

Five other suspects, including the primary conspirator, Saurabh, have already been arrested by Uttar Pradesh Police, but another individual, Junaid, remains at large, with a reward announced for his capture.

Khan has a criminal history, having been arrested in 2017 for charges including house trespass, assault, and criminal intimidation.
