New Delhi:
British tennis player Jay Clarke will headline a strong international lineup at the Delhi Open 2026, while India’s top singles player Sumit Nagal will spearhead the local challenge at the ATP Challenger event scheduled from February 16 to 22 at the DLTA Complex.
Nagal, currently India’s leading singles player, is the only Indian to receive direct entry into the singles main draw, making him a key attraction for home fans. A regular on the Challenger circuit, Nagal has consistently competed at the highest levels and is expected to make the most of the familiar playing conditions in New Delhi.
Over the years, the Delhi Open has earned a reputation for attracting high-quality international fields, often featuring players on the verge of breaking into the upper echelons of men’s tennis. The tournament continues to serve as an important platform for rising stars and seasoned competitors alike.
Rohit Rajpal, President of the Delhi Lawn Tennis Association (DLTA), highlighted the tournament’s importance for Indian tennis.
“The Delhi Open has firmly established itself as one of the most competitive and professionally run Challenger events in the region. Over the years, the tournament has played a critical role in bridging Indian talent with top international competition, giving our players the invaluable advantage of competing at home while offering fans the opportunity to experience world-class tennis at close quarters,” Rajpal said.
The international field will also feature Japanese teenager Rei Sakamoto, his compatriot Rio Noguchi, and Kazakhstan’s Beibit Zhukayev, underlining a strong Asian presence at the tournament. Rajpal added that such exposure is vital for inspiring young Indian players.
“Equally important is the inspiration it provides to young players training at DLTA and across the country, showing them that the pathway to the international stage is both real and achievable,” he said.
Adding to domestic interest, promising Indian players Manas Dhamne and Karan Singh will compete in the singles qualifiers on February 15, raising expectations and excitement among Indian tennis fans.
