New Delhi [India], April 8: Delhi Minister Majinder Singh Sirsa on Tuesday strongly criticized the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, accusing it of neglecting and damaging the Guru Tegh Bahadur Memorial near the Singhu Border.
During a visit to the memorial site along with Delhi Minister Kapil Mishra, Sirsa expressed deep disappointment, claiming the memorial, constructed around 15 years ago, was “destroyed” under Arvind Kejriwal’s administration.
“This memorial dedicated to Guru Tegh Bahadur was built around 15 years ago. It is unfortunate, and we feel sorrowful, that this useless government led by Arvind Kejriwal absolutely destroyed it… This shows the priorities of the AAP government and Arvind Kejriwal,” Sirsa stated.
He vowed to revamp the site and turn it into an educational space for tourists to learn about the legacy and sacrifices of the ninth Sikh Guru, Guru Tegh Bahadur. The memorial spans 11.87 acres and is maintained by Delhi Tourism, under the Government of Delhi.
In another development, Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood visited schools in the national capital and criticized the AAP’s educational claims. Speaking after inspecting a school in Patparganj, he said, “It is unfortunate that when I arrived at the school located in the constituency of the so-called ‘father of the educational revolution’, I was told that for the last 1.5 years, the school has been requesting to renovate the ceiling, and it was not done.”
He alleged that only two schools were developed under the AAP regime in Patparganj and that the grand claims of an “educational revolution” were largely hollow. “This is their truth. We do not want to get into a blame game, but the conditions of schools that we are seeing are unfortunate… This is why they have lost this time,” Sood said.
Minister Sood emphasized that the current administration is focused on addressing infrastructure issues in schools without dwelling on past shortcomings. “Based on the complaints of our MLAs, we are visiting those schools where there are shortcomings in infrastructure and the education system… Our government has now stopped counting the past shortcomings. Now our focus is on completing these tasks as soon as possible.”
Sood was accompanied by Patparganj MLA Ravindra Singh Negi during his visit to Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya, Mayur Vihar Phase 2.
