Delhi Minister Manjinder Singh Slams AAP’s Criticism of ‘Successful’ Cloud Seeding Trials

Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa (referred to as Manjinder Singh in the original article) has vehemently defended the cloud seeding trials conducted in the national capital and lashed out at the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for their criticism.

Trials Deemed ‘Successful’ Despite No Rain

The Delhi government, in collaboration with IIT-Kanpur, executed two cloud-seeding trials on Tuesday in areas including Burari, North Karol Bagh, and Mayur Vihar. While the trials did not result in rain across Delhi, Minister Singh still asserted their success.

Singh then took the opportunity to slam the opposition, suggesting they were “jealous of the success of the BJP-led government.”

  • The Technical Failure: IIT-Kanpur explained that the lack of rain was due to the clouds’ insufficient moisture level, stressing that the process relies heavily on favorable atmospheric conditions.
  • Postponement: A planned cloud-seeding trial for Wednesday was also postponed for the same reason: low moisture levels in the clouds.

Singh Questions AAP’s Shifting Stance

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had previously criticized the Delhi government’s efforts and expressed skepticism about the practicality of conducting cloud seeding in the city. AAP’s Saurabh Bharadwaj had reportedly “rained jibes” over the failed attempts.

Minister Singh questioned the AAP’s shifting position:

“A day after Diwali, they questioned why cloud seeding was not being carried out. Now, after it has been done, they are once again levelling allegations.”

He concluded his criticism by stating, “They are jealous of the work being done in just a span of seven months.”
