Delhi Metro Extends Train Timings For IPL Matches At Arun Jaitley Stadium, Introduces Affordable Pod Hotel For Commuters

New Delhi [India], April 11: To ensure smooth travel for spectators attending the upcoming T20 Indian Premier League (IPL) matches at Arun Jaitley Stadium, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced extended last train timings across all metro lines, including the Airport Express Line

Matches are scheduled on April 13, 16, 27, and 29, and May 11, 2025, at the Ferozshah Kotla Ground, which is adjacent to Delhi Gate and ITO Metro stations on the Violet Line (Kashmere Gate–Raja Nahar Singh corridor).

In anticipation of large post-match crowds, DMRC will operate 76 additional train trips on these days, with the last trains running 1 to 2 hours later than usual. This initiative aims to provide convenient and hassle-free travel for cricket fans returning home from the stadium.

In another commuter-friendly move, DMRC recently inaugurated ‘The Metrostay’, a pod-style hotel located at the New Delhi Metro Station. Launched on April 6, the facility offers affordable lodging starting at just ₹400, primarily catering to passengers using the nearby Airport Express Line and New Delhi Railway Station.

The Metrostay features clean, well-lit dormitory-style rooms with cozy bunk beds, each equipped with a digital locker for secure storage. For business travelers, the facility offers a co-working space, while leisure amenities include a games area with carrom and a mini-theater for movies and live screenings.

To prioritize safety and privacy, especially for women travelers, separate dormitories and washrooms have been provided.

Altamash, the store manager of Metrostay, shared, “This pod hotel started in January. We currently offer around 150 dormitory beds. Guests can register via Goibibo or walk in. Facilities include a theatre, lounge, and game zone. We also have female-only sections and are working on adding private rooms soon.”
