LG Grants NOC for DUSIB Land to Boost Transit Infrastructure at Sarai Kale Khan
In a separate development, LG Saxena also granted a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) for the allotment of a 2.5-acre land parcel currently owned by the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) at Sarai Kale Khan.
This land will be used to support the redevelopment of the ISBT (Inter-State Bus Terminal) and the creation of enhanced passenger infrastructure and multi-modal transit amenities.
The project aims to transform Sarai Kale Khan into one of Delhi’s largest integrated transit hubs, connecting the ISBT, Delhi Metro, Indian Railways, and the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS). This will offer seamless connectivity to lakhs of daily commuters, especially inter-state travelers.
Land Verified as Encroachment-Free and Legally Clear
The Delhi Transport Infrastructure Development Corporation (DTIDC) requested the land on February 2, 2024. It has since been verified that the parcel is free of encroachments and has no pending legal disputes or court cases, making it suitable for allocation.
However, DUSIB confirmed that three night shelters currently exist on the plot. In line with a Supreme Court directive, these shelters cannot be removed without judicial approval.
In response, DUSIB has agreed to approach the Supreme Court to seek permission to relocate the night shelters and rehabilitate the residents to a nearby location.
