Delhi Government Increases Budget Outlay To ₹77,700 Crore In Revised Estimates For 2024-25

The Atishi-led Delhi government has raised the budget outlay for the fiscal year 2024-25 to ₹77,700 crore from the earlier estimate of ₹76,000 crore. The revised estimates include increased allocations for several key sectors and schemes, as detailed in the documents presented in the Delhi Assembly on Wednesday.

Key Allocations in Revised Estimates

  1. MLALAD Scheme:
    • Additional ₹400 crore allocated.
    • Annual limit per assembly constituency increased to ₹15 crore from April 2024.
  2. Power Subsidy:
    • Increased by ₹350 crore for domestic consumers under the “Subsidy to Consumers through DISCOM” scheme.
  3. Pensions for Widows:
    • Allocation raised to ₹1,130 crore from ₹1,040 crore.
  4. DMRC and RRTS Projects:
    • ₹1,848.72 crore allocated for ongoing DMRC Phase-IV works.
    • ₹100 crore earmarked for the Delhi-SNB and Delhi-Panipat corridors under the Rapid Rail Transit System (RRTS).
  5. Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy:
    • Funding increased to ₹140 crore from the initial ₹30 crore.
  6. Women’s Free Bus Travel:
    • Additional ₹140 crore allocated for free travel in DTC and cluster buses.
  7. Pollution Control and Green Cover:
    • ₹64 crore allocated for pollution control measures.
    • Forest Department’s total outlay increased to ₹113 crore (from ₹39 crore) for plantation and green cover expansion.
  8. Healthcare and Education:
    • ₹100 crore allocated for hospital remodeling.
    • ₹124.80 crore added for school construction and ongoing projects.
  9. Delhi Jal Board (DJB):
    • ₹1,900 crore allocated for loans to DJB to support routine revenue expenditure.

Supplementary Grants

Chief Minister Atishi presented supplementary demands for grants amounting to ₹4,575 crore for the financial year 2024-25. The House passed the supplementary demands, allowing the government to address additional expenditures during the fiscal year.
