Delhi Gets Relief From Heat As Light To Moderate Rains Cool The Capital

New Delhi [India], July 13: Delhi woke up to light to moderate rainfall on Sunday morning, offering much-needed relief from the sweltering heat and high humidity that had gripped the city over the past week.

Areas such as Firoz Shah Road and other parts of the capital witnessed steady showers, bringing down temperatures and ushering in a pleasant breeze. Commuters across Delhi expressed relief as the weather turned cooler and more comfortable.

The rain spell began last Wednesday and has continued through the weekend. While Saturday and Friday evenings brought heavy showers to Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR), they also led to widespread waterlogging and traffic congestion in several areas.

The consistent rainfall has brought down temperatures but has also raised concerns over urban flooding. On Thursday, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta expressed her concern over waterlogging in several parts of the city and instructed civic agencies to implement effective measures to ensure public convenience during the monsoon.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast more rain in the coming days, predicting generally cloudy skies with moderate showers for the capital.

Notably, the monsoon arrived in India eight days ahead of schedule this year, leading to heavy rainfall and flooding in various cities across the country.
