Delhi Experiences Heavy Morning Rain, More Forecasted; Waterlogging And Traffic Disruptions Reported

New Delhi: Delhi received heavy rainfall on Tuesday morning, providing much-needed relief from the heat but also leading to significant waterlogging in several parts of south and southwest Delhi. Commuters reported slow-moving traffic and inundated streets as a result of the downpour.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted a “generally cloudy sky with moderate rain” to continue through the day on Tuesday, July 22, 2025. Similar weather conditions, including light to moderate rain, are expected to persist on Wednesday, July 23, while light showers are anticipated on Thursday.

Visuals from Central Delhi’s Rafi Marg and North Avenue showed regular traffic flow despite the heavy rain. However, ahead of the ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament, images emerged of water cascading down the stairs of the Parliament building, with vehicles passing in the background.

Delhi Airport Issues Advisory:

In light of the inclement weather forecast, Delhi Airport issued a passenger advisory at 10:23 AM. While flight operations were reported as “currently normal,” the advisory stated that on-ground teams are collaborating with all stakeholders to ensure smooth and hassle-free travel for passengers.

Air Quality and Temperatures:

Amidst the monsoon showers, Delhi’s air quality remained in the “moderate” category, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 103, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). An AQI between 101 and 200 is considered “moderate.”

The minimum temperature in Delhi was recorded at 26 degrees Celsius, which is normal for this time of year. The maximum temperature is expected to reach around 35 degrees Celsius. Relative humidity stood at 83 percent at 8:30 AM
