In a major breakthrough, the Delhi Crime Branch’s Northern Range-II (NR-II) team arrested Javed, a 37-year-old history-sheeter from PS Khyala, in connection with a gangrape case registered at PS Nabi Karim in Central Delhi.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the Crime Branch laid a trap near Jagatpur Pusta in the PS Wazirabad area. During the operation, when the raiding team attempted to apprehend Javed, he opened fire on the police personnel. Demonstrating quick reflexes and bravery, the team overpowered Javed after a brief scuffle, preventing any further escalation.
Following the arrest, the police recovered a pistol, one empty cartridge, and five live cartridges from Javed. A fresh criminal case under the provisions of BNS, 2023, and the Arms Act has been registered, and an investigation is ongoing.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Crime Branch, Harsh Indora, stated that the operation was part of ongoing efforts to curb criminal activities and apprehend hardened offenders in the capital.
Further investigations revealed shocking details: In May 2024, the victim first came into contact with an individual named Ankush, who allegedly assaulted her repeatedly, leading to a miscarriage. Later, in December 2024, Javed — identified as Ankush’s associate — allegedly visited the woman’s residence, raped her at gunpoint, and subsequently went into hiding.
While Ankush had been previously arrested by the local police, Javed remained a wanted fugitive, constantly shifting locations to avoid capture.
Javed’s criminal history is extensive, with nearly three dozen cases against him involving serious charges ranging from assault to arms violations.
With this arrest, the Delhi Police have foiled potential future crimes and brought a dangerous criminal to justice. Authorities confirmed that further investigations are underway to uncover any additional crimes linked to the accused.
