Delhi Crime Branch Nabs Wanted Gangster Using Fake Instagram Profile

New Delhi [India]: The Delhi Crime Branch successfully arrested a wanted gangster, who was also a life convict after he jumped parole in a 2005 abduction-for-ransom-cum-murder case in Nangloi.

Social Media Trap Leads to Arrest

In a strategic operation, the police created a fake Instagram profile, posing as a Mumbai-based model to lure the fugitive Manoj alias Arun, a criminal with a history of murders and robberies across Delhi, Haryana, and Rajasthan.

According to Delhi Police, Manoj was an active member of the Jitender alias Gogi Gang and a close associate of the notorious gangster Deepak alias Tittar, who is currently in jail for multiple crimes, including the murder of rival gangster Tillu Tajpuria inside Tihar Jail.

The operation took weeks as police continued chatting with Manoj using the fake profile. Finally, he was lured to Safdarjung Enclave in South Delhi for a supposed meeting. A trap was set, and he was successfully apprehended.

Weapons Seized & Further Investigation

During the arrest, two sophisticated .32 bore pistols and eight live cartridges were recovered from Manoj’s possession. A new case under the Arms Act was registered against him.

Manoj’s Criminal History

Originally from Mahender Garh, Haryana, Manoj moved to Nangloi, Delhi, in the 1990s. After completing school, he started a business with his friend Chamanlal, who had old enmity with a man named Rahul. In 2005, Manoj and Chamanlal abducted and killed Rahul after he refused to pay ransom. He was convicted in 2013 and sentenced to life imprisonment.

While in Tihar Jail, Manoj befriended Vicky Ramzanpur, a key member of the Gogi Gang, and also interacted with Deepak Dabas alias Tittar.

Repeated Parole Jumps and New Crimes

  • 2014: Released on a one-month parole but never surrendered.
  • Joined Gogi Gang, committed multiple murders, carjackings, and extortion in Delhi and Haryana.
  • 2015: Arrested and jailed again.
  • June 2023: Granted three-week parole, absconded once more.
  • Post-Parole Crimes: Committed multiple robberies and carjackings in Pali, Rajasthan, and was arrested by Rajasthan Police.
  • 2024: Released from Bilada Jail after misleading authorities about his past crimes.

The Delhi Crime Branch’s operation successfully ended his criminal run, and further investigations are ongoing to trace his associates.
