Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Slams Atishi Over Army Comments, Backs Armed Forces And PM Modi After Operation Sindoor

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday strongly rebuked AAP leader and Delhi Assembly Leader of Opposition Atishi for her reported criticism of the recent India-Pakistan ceasefire understanding, declaring that “no one has the right to question the Army.”

“Looking after 140 crore people and taking the right decision can be done only by the person whose job it is to do so… No one has the right to raise questions on the Army,” Gupta asserted, responding to Atishi’s remarks.
“It is very easy to say anything in a closed, air-conditioned room watching television,” she added, underscoring the importance of experience and responsibility in national security matters.

The sharp response comes amid political tensions over Operation Sindoor, India’s counter-terror strikes launched in retaliation to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. While the operation has received widespread support, some opposition voices, including from AAP, have questioned aspects of the government’s diplomatic response.

Earlier in the day, CM Gupta chaired a review meeting at the Delhi Secretariat to discuss reforms in Delhi’s public grievance redressal system.

“Delhi’s grievance system has failed under previous governments. We’re revamping it completely,” she said.
“Complaint boxes will be installed in every registrar, sub-registrar, DM, and SDM office, and these will be monitored directly by the Chief Minister’s Office. We are committed to zero tolerance against corruption.”

On Tuesday, CM Gupta had also addressed the ‘Tiranga Yatra’ in the national capital, launched by the BJP nationwide to honour India’s armed forces and commemorate the success of Operation Sindoor.

“140 crore Indians stand with the armed forces and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The country is proud of the soldiers who gave a befitting reply to terrorism,” Gupta said.
“Pakistan now knows that any aggression will be met with strength.”

The yatra was attended by several senior BJP leaders, including National General Secretary Tarun Chugh and Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva, with massive participation from party workers and citizens.

The Tiranga Yatra will continue across the country until May 23, aiming to galvanise public support for national security and celebrate the bravery of the Indian military.
