New Delhi [India]: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta kicked off a 20-day cleanliness initiative titled ‘My NDMC, Keep It Clean’ on Tuesday, launching the campaign from the iconic Hanuman Temple complex in Connaught Place.
The campaign, organized by the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), saw active participation from NDMC Vice Chairman Kuljeet Singh Chahal, alongside the Chief Minister, aiming to foster civic responsibility and environmental hygiene across the capital.
Speaking to the media, CM Gupta emphasized the importance of public participation:
“In Delhi, a cleanliness drive is being conducted by civic agencies and the government in the NDMC area. This is a symbolic message to all officials and leaders—everyone must come onto the streets for a better and more beautiful Delhi. A clean Delhi is the right of the people.”
The campaign, lasting 20 days, encourages mass civic engagement to maintain cleanliness in public spaces.
In a separate initiative, on Monday, CM Gupta joined National Commission for Women (NCW) Chairperson Vijaya K Rahatkar to inaugurate the ‘Mahila Maha Jan Sunwai’—a five-day mega public hearing camp to expedite resolutions for women in distress.
Applauding the NCW’s efforts, CM Gupta said:
“This is a very good beginning. Quick action is being taken on all pending cases in Delhi. I believe all distressed women should receive justice swiftly.”
The event underscores the government’s commitment to strengthening women’s rights and access to justice.
Furthering her reform agenda, on Sunday, the Chief Minister also launched MedLEaPR (Medico-Legal Examination and Postmortem Reporting) at the Delhi Secretariat. The platform is designed to modernize forensic reporting, making it more transparent and efficient in line with three new criminal laws introduced by the central government.
“This initiative is a transformative step in improving the efficiency and credibility of India’s criminal justice process,” CM Gupta noted during the launch.
