New Delhi [India], January 9: Delhi Chief Minister and AAP leader Atishi launched a scathing attack on the BJP, accusing the party of having no agenda or narrative other than targeting AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal. She stated that the BJP has failed to present a chief ministerial candidate for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections.
“This ‘galli-galoch’ party has no agenda, no vision, and no CM face for Delhi. Their only task is to hurl abuses at Arvind Kejriwal. I believe it will be easy for the people of Delhi to make their decision,” Atishi said after inaugurating the AAP election office in Govindpuri.
Kejriwal, meanwhile, reaffirmed that the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections would be a direct contest between AAP and BJP, not an INDIA alliance election. “The Delhi election is between AAP and BJP, not about the INDIA alliance. I am grateful for the support from Mamata Banerjee, Akhilesh Yadav, and the Thackeray faction,” Kejriwal told reporters.
In response, Congress hit back, with Sandeep Dikshit, Congress candidate for New Delhi constituency, accusing AAP of always aiming to defeat Congress. He recalled that AAP had never directly opposed BJP during the 2012-13 period and only targeted Congress. “If AAP has so much aversion to BJP and RSS, why did they write a letter to the RSS?” Dikshit questioned.
The Delhi assembly elections will take place on February 5, with vote counting scheduled for February 8. The last date for filing nominations is January 17, while the final date for withdrawal of candidature is January 20.
