Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta Announces People-Centric Budget, Set To Fulfill Public Expectations

New Delhi [India], March 5: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta assured on Wednesday that the upcoming Delhi budget will cater to the expectations of the city’s residents. To ensure it aligns with the needs of various groups, CM Gupta announced her plans to personally meet women, families, youth, and professionals from diverse sectors to gather their feedback.

During a press conference, CM Gupta stated, “I will visit slum areas to speak with women and families about their expectations from this government. We will also have discussions with youth and professionals from different sectors. The upcoming Delhi budget will fulfill the people’s expectations.”

The Chief Minister also took a swipe at the opposition Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), stating that the BJP-led government doesn’t need to be reminded about its agenda. Her comment came after AAP leaders launched a protest at the ITO Flyover, putting up banners criticizing the delay in implementing the Mahila Samriddhi Yojana by the Delhi government. “We will fulfill all the promises made in our manifesto, whether it’s the Rs 2,100 scheme for women or the cylinder subsidy. Nobody has to remind us about our agenda. We will continue with our plans, not theirs (AAP),” she added.

Delhi Minister Kapil Mishra also emphasized the participatory nature of the budget, highlighting that CM Gupta’s decision was to incorporate the suggestions of Delhi’s people. “CM Rekha Gupta has decided that the budget will be prepared after consulting with Delhi’s people. She is meeting with women and will soon engage with businessmen. All suggestions will be considered and included in the final budget,” Mishra told ANI.

Earlier this week, CM Gupta announced that the Delhi Budget for 2025-26, titled “Viksit Delhi,” will be presented in the Assembly between March 24 and 26. The government aims to ensure that the budget reflects the priorities and needs of the city’s residents. “The Viksit Delhi Budget will prioritize the development of Delhi. We will take suggestions from every section of society to ensure all voices are heard,” she stated.

Gupta further added that key issues, including financial assistance for women, expansion of health services, pollution reduction, public transport promotion, cleaning the Yamuna, senior citizens’ welfare, and employment, will be part of the government’s focus in the new budget.

To facilitate the public’s participation, an email address (ViksitDelhiBudget_25@delhi.gov.in) and a WhatsApp number (999962025) have been made available for citizens to submit their suggestions directly to the government.
