Delhi BJP President Slams AAP’s Amanatullah Khan, Calls Him A Man With Criminal Nature

New Delhi, February 12: Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva has strongly criticized Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Amanatullah Khan after he was booked for allegedly threatening and mishandling police officers during an incident in Jamia Nagar. Sachdeva called Khan a man with “criminal nature” who has repeatedly attempted to manipulate the law.

Sachdeva stated, “MLA Amanatullah Khan is a man with a criminal nature. There are already several cases pending against him, where he repeatedly tries to manipulate the law. What he has done now is to protect an accused in a murder case. Such people should be punished under the law.”

Delhi Police launched an operation to arrest Amanatullah Khan after he was accused of leading an attack on a police team and threatening them during an operation in the Jogabai Extension area of Jamia Nagar. The FIR filed against Khan alleges that he manhandled and threatened police officers while obstructing their efforts to arrest an accused. The charges against him are under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), including sections 221, 121(1), 132, 191(2), 190, 263(b), 351(3), and 111.

The incident occurred on February 10, when a Crime Branch team from Delhi Police attempted to apprehend Shavej Khan, a suspect in a 2018 attempted murder case. The FIR accuses Amanatullah Khan and his supporters of blocking the police from performing their duties, leading to a scuffle and the suspect’s escape.

Meanwhile, in his first public statement since the incident, Amanatullah Khan denied fleeing and stated that he was in his assembly constituency. He accused the Delhi Police of falsely implicating him in the case and claimed that the person they had come to arrest had already been granted bail. Khan further alleged that the police were attempting to frame him to cover up their own mistakes.

Khan wrote in a letter to the Delhi Police Commissioner, “I am in my assembly constituency, I have not fled anywhere. Some people from Delhi Police are implicating me in a false case… The person whom Delhi Police had come to arrest has already got bail. When the person showed his papers, the police are implicating me in a false case to hide their mistake.”

Delhi Police is currently searching for Amanatullah Khan and is in the process of questioning him regarding the suspect’s escape.
