Delhi Assembly Speaker Suspends 12 AAP MLAs, Including LoP Atishi, Gopal Rai

New Delhi [India]: High drama unfolded in the Delhi Assembly as Speaker Vijender Gupta suspended 12 AAP MLAs, including Leader of Opposition Atishi and AAP leader Gopal Rai, ahead of the tabling of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report.

As soon as Lieutenant Governor (LG) began his address, AAP MLAs started raising slogans, leading to an uproar in the House. They also chanted “Jai Bhim” slogans before the LG’s speech. The Speaker then ordered their suspension, prompting the MLAs to continue their protest outside the Assembly while carrying posters of Babasaheb Ambedkar.

The newly elected BJP-led government under Chief Minister Rekha Gupta is set to present 14 CAG reports, which reportedly detail financial irregularities during the previous AAP government.

Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva called the CAG findings “a list of AAP’s black deeds,” asserting that those involved in corruption will be held accountable. Delhi Minister Parvesh Verma echoed the sentiment, stating that the report would “expose the corruption of AAP and how Delhi taxpayers were looted.”

Meanwhile, Delhi Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa accused former CM Arvind Kejriwal’s government of hiding the report for three years. “These 14 reports will reveal the scams and loot that AAP tried to cover up,” he claimed.

As political tensions continue to mount, all eyes are on the CAG revelations and their potential impact on the AAP-BJP showdown in the national capital.
