May 08, 2025: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh lauded the Indian Armed Forces on Thursday for the successful execution of Operation Sindoor, which targeted and destroyed multiple terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Speaking at the National Quality Conclave organized by the DRDO, Singh commended the precision and bravery shown during the operation, calling it “a matter of pride for the country.”
Singh stated that nine terror camps were neutralized, resulting in the elimination of a significant number of terrorists. “The precision with which Operation Sindoor was executed is unimaginable and very praiseworthy. This operation was carried out without harming any innocents and with minimal collateral damage,” he said.
Operation Sindoor was launched in the early hours of May 7 in retaliation for the Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed the lives of 26 people. India conducted coordinated precision strikes using long-range weapons, destroying nine terror sites in PoK and deep inside Pakistani territory. According to defence sources, over 100 terrorists were eliminated, although exact numbers remain unconfirmed as the operation is still ongoing.
In response to India’s strikes, Pakistan attempted to engage military targets in Northern and Western India using drones and missiles. Areas including Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Bhatinda, and Bhuj were among those targeted.
However, Indian defence systems, including the Integrated Counter-UAS Grid and S-400 Sudarshan Chakra air defence systems, successfully neutralized the threats. Debris from these intercepted attacks is being recovered and analyzed as evidence of Pakistan’s attempted retaliation.
Further reports on Thursday morning confirmed that India launched additional strikes targeting Pakistani air defence radars and systems. Notably, an air defence installation in Lahore was reportedly neutralized, mirroring the scale and intensity of Pakistan’s attempted engagement.
An official government confirmation of these latest developments is awaited.
