Amid intense military escalation between India and Pakistan, defence officials have strongly denied reports claiming that an S-400 air defence system was damaged during the recent cross-border hostilities. The officials labelled the reports as “baseless” and “fake news.”
“News reports of destruction or any damage to an S-400 system are baseless, fake news,” said officials from the Ministry of Defence, reaffirming the operational integrity of India’s advanced air defence shield.
S-400: A Key Shield in India’s Defence
India’s S-400 Triumf system, sourced from Russia, has played a pivotal role in neutralising incoming threats, including armed drones and missiles, since the launch of Operation Sindoor, a comprehensive counter-offensive initiated earlier this week following Pakistan’s provocation.
Despite reports circulating on social media and select platforms regarding alleged damage, the S-400 units remain fully operational, helping to intercept aerial threats from Pakistan.
Ongoing Conflict: India Hits Back After 26-Point Attack
The escalation began when Pakistan targeted 26 locations across India, prompting a swift and forceful retaliatory strike by the Indian Armed Forces. As per sources, four Pakistani airbases were struck early on Saturday in a targeted offensive.
Intermittent exchange of fire is continuing along the Line of Control (LoC), with security forces in a state of high readiness, particularly across border zones in Jammu, Punjab, and Rajasthan.
Drone Activity Across the Border
According to a statement from the Ministry of Defence, armed drones were sighted at 26 locations along the International Border and LoC, including sensitive zones such as Baramulla, Srinagar, Avantipora, Pathankot, Bhuj, and Barmer.
“An armed drone targeted a civilian area in Ferozpur, injuring members of a local family. The injured have received medical care and the site has been secured,” the Defence Ministry noted.
Public Advisory: Stay Indoors, Stay Safe
Authorities have issued advisories to residents in border areas, urging them to:
- Remain indoors
- Avoid unnecessary travel
- Follow all safety protocols issued by local law enforcement
Despite the ongoing tension, the Ministry emphasized that there is no need for panic, though heightened vigilance remains crucial.
