Deepti Sharma Creates History: First Cricketer To Score 1,000 Runs And Take 150 Wickets In T20Is

India’s star all-rounder Deepti Sharma has etched her name into global cricket history, becoming the first-ever cricketer across both men’s and women’s T20 Internationals to register 1,000 runs and 150 wickets. The landmark moment took place during the third T20I against Sri Lanka in Thiruvananthapuram, further underlining Deepti’s reputation as one of the finest white-ball all-rounders in modern cricket.

Along with this extraordinary achievement, Deepti delivered a decisive three-wicket spell that helped India dominate Sri Lanka. With this performance, she also climbed to the joint-highest wicket-taker in women’s T20I cricket, sharing the top position with Australia’s Megan Schutt at 151 wickets. Sri Lanka’s Kavisha Dilhari marked Deepti’s historic 150th wicket, which came in the 14th over.

Deepti has taken 131 matches to reach 151 wickets with an impressive average of 18.73 and a strike rate of 18.43. In comparison, Megan Schutt achieved the milestone in eight fewer games with an average of 17.70 and strike rate of 16.57. Deepti sealed her iconic record by dismissing Malsha Shehani in her final over, which also helped her become the third-highest wicket-taker in women’s international cricket overall, taking her tally to 333 wickets.

The only players ahead of her are legends Jhulan Goswami with 355 wickets and Katherine Sciver-Brunt with 335 wickets, highlighting Deepti’s growing legacy in the sport.

This achievement further strengthens Deepti Sharma’s legendary status. She was earlier crowned Player of the Tournament at the 2025 ICC Women’s World Cup, where India lifted their maiden world title on home soil. She also made headlines at the Tata Women’s Premier League auction, where UP Warriorz secured her for ₹3.2 crore, making it the second-highest bid in league history.

With this victory, India now lead the five-match T20I series against Sri Lanka 3–0, showcasing complete dominance.
