August 10, 2025: The Hindi version of the popular Hollywood movie The Intern is finally going to move forward after a five-year wait, but there will be a big alteration. Midday said that Deepika Padukone has opted to give up her playing role in the movie so she may focus just on making it.
The project was first announced with Padukone and the late Rishi Kapoor, but it has been on hold since 2020. Amitabh Bachchan took over as the senior intern after Kapoor died suddenly. However, the film was delayed even more because of the COVID-19 pandemic and Padukone’s maternity leave.
Padukone, who just had a baby girl named Dua, will now be the producer of the movie and will focus on the creative and logistical parts of it. Bachchan will star in the movie with a new actress. The movie is set to start filming in 2026. People say that Padukone made this choice because she wants to be more picky about the scripts she chooses and spend more time with her family. She also wants to grow as a creative.
Nancy Meyers directed the first movie, which came out in 2015. Anne Hathaway played the CEO of a fashion firm, while Robert De Niro played the 70-year-old widower who becomes her assistant. Padukone is still busy with a lot of big acting projects, such the second part of Kalki 2898 AD, a movie with Allu Arjun and director Atlee, and a major role in Shah Rukh Khan’s next movie, King.
