NEW DELHI – Police found a 65-year-old woman dead and her 70-year-old husband in severe condition. The incident occurred late Sunday night inside their locked flat in Jamia Nagar, Delhi. This was a really disturbing event. The finding was uncovered after the couple’s daughter in Hong Kong told their family that they hadn’t been able to reach them for a few days.
Police claim that the couple’s 50-year-old son, who they say has a history of mental illness, was found sitting outside the bedroom. Later, he was sent to the Institute of Human Behavior and Allied Sciences (IHBAS).
A Daughter’s Desperate Calls Lead to the Discovery
The event came to light after the couple’s daughter, who lives in Hong Kong, got worried when she couldn’t get in touch with her parents for almost a week. She called her uncle and sister-in-law, who reside in the same neighborhood as her. When the relatives went to the flat in Queen Apartments, the son is said to have answered their calls but not opened the door.
“The SHO and ACP rushed to the scene because the case was so sensitive,” said Hemant Tiwari, deputy commissioner of police for the southeast. Police found the woman’s body on the bed after they broke into the house. It was already “highly decomposed.” Her spouse, a retired music teacher, was found next to her in “critical and fragile condition” and was taken to AIIMS almost after.
Police Think They Were Locked Up Without Food
The woman’s body had no outward injuries, but it was in a stage of decomposition, which meant she had probably died several days before. Doctors say that the death looks like it was caused by natural causes, but they still need to do an autopsy to find out for sure.
The son gave answers that didn’t make sense when he was questioned. A high-ranking police officer added, “At first, he said his mom and dad were sleeping.” He later said that he stayed inside the house with his parents for four to five days without meals. We think he didn’t feed them either.
The daughter had apparently been trying to reach her parents and brother for four days without luck, so she reached out to other family members. The police haven’t filed an official FIR yet, but a district crime squad has looked at the flat and started the process of bringing charges. The son is still getting medical attention at IHBAS and has subsequently been sent to GTB Hospital.
