Gurugram (Haryana) [India]: In a historic first, DD Sports is broadcasting live coverage of the prestigious Indian Open, which is currently underway. The tournament, one of Asia’s most iconic golfing events since 1964, offers the highest prize money in India, totaling $2.25 million. The event will run until Sunday, March 30.
As per an official press release, DD Sports will air the Indian Open live from 2 PM to 5 PM daily, making the sport more accessible to viewers across the country. This marks the first time India’s National Broadcaster is showcasing the event live, aligning with the Indian Golf Union’s efforts to popularize the sport among the masses and young aspiring golfers.
Star-Studded Lineup at Indian Open
This year’s Indian Open features one of its strongest player fields ever, including:
- Defending champion Keita Nakajima (Japan) – Former World No. 1 amateur
- Eugenio Chacarra (Spain) – Former World No. 2 amateur, now a professional
- A total of 138 players competing for the title
Indian Open and Its Global Significance
The tournament is part of the Asian Swing and also contributes to the European Tour’s Race to Dubai rankings. The Top-10 players, who are not otherwise exempt, will earn a spot on the PGA Tour, the world’s most prestigious golf circuit.
