David Miller Completes 3000 IPL Runs As LSG Defeat MI By 12 Runs In Lucknow

South African batter David Miller reached a significant personal milestone during Lucknow Super Giants’ (LSG) 12-run win over Mumbai Indians (MI) on Friday in the ongoing IPL 2025 season. The left-handed batter completed 3000 runs in the history of the Indian Premier League.

Miller achieved the feat during a brisk innings of 27 runs off 14 balls, laced with three fours and a six, at a striking rate of 192.86. His contribution was crucial in helping LSG post a challenging total of 203 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium.

Having represented franchises like Punjab Kings, Rajasthan Royals, Gujarat Titans, and now Lucknow Super Giants, the 35-year-old has now scored 3010 runs in 134 IPL matches, averaging 36.71 with a strike rate of 139.48, including 13 fifties and one century.

Speaking at the mid-innings break, Miller shared his thoughts on the pitch and reflected on his IPL journey:

“The feedback we got from the guys who batted for a while was it was slow and it stuck in the pitch. A good back of a length ball squatted a little. It was a good wicket, but we will use those variations.”

“(On dew) Nothing as of yet, but I hope our bowlers execute what we have been talking about in the last few days. (On Hardik) He is a good bowler, the bouncer is quicker than you expect it to. He holds the length well. Hope our bowlers do something similar.”

“(On him reaching 3000 IPL runs) I did not know that to be honest. Great privilege to be playing in the IPL for so long, and when you play for so long, the milestones will come.”

Miller’s milestone came in a match where LSG bowlers put on a collective performance, restricting MI to 191/5 while chasing 203. The win was LSG’s second victory of the season, moving them to sixth place on the IPL 2025 points table with four points from four games.

LSG’s next match will be against defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the iconic Eden Gardens on April 8.
