‘Family Matters’ Star Darius McCrary Arrested At US-Mexico Border Over Felony Warrant

Darius McCrary, an actor best known for playing Eddie Winslow in the 1990s sitcom Family Matters, was captured near the US-Mexico border earlier this week and is now being held without bail in a San Diego jail.

Authorities found an out-of-state felony warrant for the 49-year-old celebrity, which was confirmed on Sunday. McCrary is set to go to court on Wednesday, but the exact allegations against him have not been made public.

Representative Clarifies Arrest:

TMZ spoke with Ann Barlow, McCrary’s representative, who said that the warrant was issued after McCrary skipped a court date in Michigan related to child support payments. In the past, McCrary has had similar problems, including two arrests for not paying child support to his ex-wife, Tammy Brawner.

Barlow told US Weekly that he didn’t mean to skip the appearance. She claimed, “Oakland County sent the notification to Darius’ PO Box, which gave him only three days to show up in Michigan Court. Sadly, Darius had COVID and didn’t check his PO Box until the day after his court date. But he told the judge right away that he had COVID, along with a doctor’s note.

She also said that McCrary was arrested while doing a nice deed at the border, which shows how unintentional it was that he missed court.

Work History:

Family Matters, which ran from 1989 to 1998, made Darius McCrary famous as Eddie Winslow, the oldest son in the famous Winslow family. Because of its funny moments and realistic look at family life, the show became a cultural staple.

After Family Matters ended, McCrary worked on a lot of other projects, such as Anger Management, The Young and the Restless, and Monogamy. He kept working in TV and movies.
