On Friday, former Pakistan cricketer Danish Kaneria expressed his admiration for Gautam Adani, chairperson of the Adani Group, for dedicating his wealth and resources to serving Sanatan Dharma. Kaneria’s comments came in response to a social media post from Adani, highlighting the Adani Group’s contributions to the ongoing Mahakumbh Mela in Prayagraj.
Kaneria praised Adani for his selfless service to the devotees and noted that this dedication is the reason why “forces around the world” are attempting to bring him down.
He said, “This is exactly why forces around the world are working relentlessly to bring this man down. He’s dedicating his wealth and resources to serving Sanatan Dharma, not pandering to any ‘ecosystem.’ As someone from a Gujarati Hindu family, I take immense pride in having you as part of our community.”
Adani, along with his family, had visited the Mahakumbh Mela earlier this week and participated in a special aarti at Triveni Sangam. During the visit, Adani also collaborated with the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) to support the Mahaprasad Seva initiative, which aims to serve meals to millions of devotees attending the Mela.
The Mahaprasad Seva initiative, launched in partnership with ISKCON, is expected to provide free meals to up to 50 lakh devotees throughout the duration of the Mela, which runs until February 26, 2025. The initiative involves the distribution of meals prepared in two kitchens at the Mela, with distribution points set up at 40 locations.
Special arrangements, including golf carts, are available for the elderly, differently-abled, and mothers with children to ease their experience during the event. Additionally, the initiative includes the distribution of five lakh copies of the Geeta Saar, enhancing the spiritual experience for attendees.
As of Friday morning, over 30.29 lakh devotees had participated in the holy dip at the Mela, with official data reporting over 102 million attendees since the beginning of the Maha Kumbh. The state government has projected that this year’s Maha Kumbh will host over 45 crore visitors, with major key dates still to come, including Mauni Amavasya on January 29 and Maha Shivaratri on February 26.
