Daldal Trailer: Bhumi Pednekar’s DCP Takes on a Serial Killer While Battling Her Own Demons, Fans Say ‘Dexter Vibes’

Prime Video has unveiled the gripping trailer of its upcoming crime thriller series Daldal, and it has already sent chills down viewers’ spines. After creating strong buzz with its teaser, the trailer raises the stakes with dark visuals, psychological tension and a chilling hunt for a serial killer in Mumbai.

The trailer introduces Bhumi Pednekar as DCP Rita Ferreira, a tough, driven cop tracking a cold-blooded murderer while struggling with her own inner turmoil. As the investigation deepens, Rita crosses paths with a relentless journalist, played by Samara Tijori, adding another layer of intrigue to the story. Prime Video captioned the trailer release with the line, “The past isn’t here to haunt, it’s here to hunt.”

Fans were quick to react, praising the intense tone and Bhumi’s commanding screen presence. Comments ranged from “The trailer gave me goosebumps” to “Dexter vibes,” while Bhumi’s sister Samiksha Pednekar also cheered her on, calling the trailer “absolutely amazing.”

Based on Vish Dhamija’s bestselling novel Bhendi Bazaar, Daldal is directed by Amrit Raj Gupta and produced by Vikram Malhotra and Suresh Triveni under the Abundantia Entertainment banner. The series is created by Suresh Triveni and written by Sreekanth Agneeswaran, Rohan D’Souza and Priya Saggi, with dialogues by Suresh Triveni and Hussain Haidry.

Alongside Bhumi Pednekar, the show features Samara Tijori and Aditya Rawal in lead roles, with a strong supporting cast including Geeta Agrawal, Chinmay Mandlekar, Ananth Narayan Mahadevan, Rahul Bhat, Sandeep Kulkarni, Shivraj Walvekar, Sandesh Kulkarni and Jaya Bhattacharya.

Speaking about her role, Bhumi said playing Rita Ferreira was one of the most intense and creatively fulfilling experiences of her career. She described the character as ambitious yet vulnerable, haunted by her past and constantly balancing strength with self-doubt. She also called reuniting with producer Vikram Malhotra after Toilet: Ek Prem Katha a “homecoming.”

Blending psychological dread with edge-of-the-seat suspense, Daldal sets up a high-stakes cat-and-mouse game where the hunter could easily become the hunted. The series is set to premiere exclusively on Prime Video on January 30, streaming across India and more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
