Defence Acquisition Council Approves ₹67,000 Crore In Military Procurement Proposals

The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), which is led by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, has approved many military acquisition plans worth over ₹67,000 crore. These suggestions, which are part of the “Acceptance of Necessity” (AoN) group, are meant to improve the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force’s ability to do their jobs.

One of the most important clearances is that the Indian Army would buy “thermal imager-based driver night sights” for its BMP infantry battle vehicles. This technology will greatly increase the mechanized infantry’s ability to drive at night and move around, providing them a big operational edge when visibility is low.

The DAC has given the green light to all three services:

Indian Army: The Army will also gain from getting Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPAs) in addition to the thermal imagers for BMPs. These RPAs can be utilized for surveillance and combat missions around the clock.

Indian Navy: The Navy will get Compact Autonomous Surface Craft to fight submarines, as well as BrahMos Fire Control Systems and Launchers. The DAC also agreed to an upgrade for the BARAK-1 Point Defense Missile System.

Indian Air Force: The IAF will buy special Mountain Radars to help keep an eye on the air near the country’s mountainous frontiers. The SAKSHAM/SPYDER weapon system will also be improved so that it can work with the Integrated Air Command and Control System. This will make air defense even better.

The permits also include plans for the C-17 and C-130J transport aircraft fleets of the Air Force to be maintained over the long term and a full annual maintenance contract for the S-400 Long Range Air Defence Missile System. The government is working to modernize the armed forces and make India more self-sufficient in defense. This includes both buying new weapons and taking care of old ones.
