Washington [US], February 27: Cynthia Erivo, the talented actress and singer, is set to have a “special moment” during the 2025 Oscars ceremony, where she will perform alongside her Wicked co-star Ariana Grande. The news was revealed by the Academy Awards executive producer Katy Mullan during the 97th Oscars Creative Team press conference.
Mullan shared that Cynthia, who has delivered an incredible performance this year, will have a significant role in the show, though the details of her moment remain a mystery. “We can’t reveal what it is or where it is, but I think fans of Cynthia Erivo will get something hugely entertaining, full of joy, and a true celebration of her incredible talent and her place in music this past year,” Mullan said.
Along with Erivo, Ariana Grande, her co-star from the Wicked film adaptation, will also take the stage for a live performance during the telecast. Organizers have teased that viewers can expect “a spellbinding moment” that will be unforgettable.
The star-studded evening will not only feature the dynamic duo from Wicked but also electrifying performances by global superstar Lisa from Blackpink, who is also known for her recent role in The White Lotus. Chart-topping rapper and singer Doja Cat, legendary musician and actress Queen Latifah, and rising star Raye will also perform during the ceremony.
Additionally, Queen Latifah will pay a special tribute to legendary musician Quincy Jones. The Los Angeles Master Chorale will also make a special appearance, adding a touch of grandeur to the evening’s musical moments.
In an interesting twist, this year’s Oscars will not feature live performances of the Best Original Song nominees. Instead, viewers will be treated to a special behind-the-scenes look at the songwriting process, with personal reflections from the creative teams that brought the music to life.
