Washington (US), March 7: Academy Award-nominated actress Cynthia Erivo has been cast in the upcoming Lionsgate action thriller Karoshi. Currently busy with several high-profile projects, Erivo will join actors Teo Yoo and Isabel May in the film, which is scheduled to begin production in June, as confirmed by Deadline.
Karoshi, directed by Takashi Doscher from his own script, is described as a corporate thriller with a samurai twist, blending high-stakes corporate intrigue with intense action. While details regarding the plot and the characters of Erivo, Yoo, and May remain under wraps, the film is expected to feature suspenseful and high-octane action sequences.
The film is being produced by 87Eleven Entertainment’s Chad Stahelski, Alex Young, and Jason Spitz through their deal with Lionsgate.
Erivo, who recently wrapped filming on the two-part Wicked movie adaptation, is gearing up for a busy year with multiple high-profile roles. She will appear in Season 2 of Peacock’s Poker Face as a set of sextuplets and is set to star as Jesus in the Hollywood Bowl’s production of Jesus Christ Superstar this summer. Along with her acting career, Erivo is also making waves in the music industry, having released a new single, Replay, which is the first track off her upcoming album. Additionally, she is set to host the 2025 Tony Awards in June.
