BJP MP CP Joshi Praises India’s Robust Counter-Terrorism Response; DGMO Talks With Pakistan Yield Mixed Signals

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP CP Joshi has praised the Indian government and armed forces for adopting a transformed and assertive approach to counter-terrorism, stating that India now delivers a “befitting reply” to terrorist threats and cross-border provocations.

During a recent interaction with media, Joshi recalled how swiftly Indian forces reacted to the 2019 Pulwama terror attack, executing surgical and air strikes on terror camps inside Pakistan. He also cited India’s recent military response to the Pahalgam terror attack, where 26 Indian soldiers were killed, stating that terrorist hideouts were decisively destroyed in retaliatory action under Operation Sindoor on May 7.

“India is not the same as before… now India gives a befitting reply. Earlier, we only expressed concern, but now we respond with strength,” Joshi declared.

DGMO Talks Yield Tense Truce

In the wake of rising tensions, Directors General of Military Operations (DGMO) from India and Pakistan held critical talks at 5 PM on Monday, aiming to de-escalate hostilities and uphold commitments to ceasefire agreements.

The Indian Army released a statement noting that both sides agreed:

  • Not to initiate any aggressive action, including cross-border firing.
  • To consider troop reduction in border and forward areas.
  • To maintain continued communication to sustain the ceasefire.

However, Indian DGMO Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai revealed that the ceasefire was quickly violated by Pakistan, mere hours after the understanding was reached. This included cross-border shelling and drone intrusions, prompting “robust responses” by Indian forces.

“Our intent is clear — any further violations will be responded to fiercely,” Lt Gen Ghai said, emphasizing that Army Commanders now have full operational authority to act under orders from the Chief of Army Staff.

Operation Sindoor: India’s Assertive Counterstrike

The military dialogue followed India’s massive counteroffensive Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7. Indian armed forces targeted and neutralized nine terror hubs in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK), including major Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed facilities in Muridke and Bahawalpur.

The operation marked a strategic turning point in India’s response matrix, showcasing enhanced precision strike capability, coordination across military branches, and zero-tolerance for cross-border terrorism.

As both countries navigate tense diplomatic and military terrain, the coming days will be critical in determining whether ceasefire efforts hold — or give way to continued conflict.
