The Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi on Thursday recorded the evidence of the Deputy Director (Photo Division) of the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) in connection with the Pul Bangash Sikh killings case linked to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.
Former Congress MP Jagdish Tytler is currently facing trial in the case.
Special Judge (CBI) Jitendra Singh presided over the hearing and recorded the testimony of S. Ingarsal, Deputy Director of the Photo and Scientific Aid Division at CFSL, who appeared as a prosecution witness. The witness was cross-examined by defense counsels Advocate Anil Kumar Sharma and Anuj Sharma.
Ingarsal testified that he had examined a CD containing five video clips. He confirmed that no editing was detected in the videos and that they were found to be genuine with no discrepancies. He further stated that while the clips were not in direct continuity, they appeared to be part of a continuous video sequence based on elements such as subjects, location, background, relative positions, screen timestamps, and lighting conditions.
The forensic expert submitted his report on September 27, 2022, affirming the authenticity of the videos. With the court’s permission, the CD was played during the hearing for identification of the audio and video footage by the witness.
The court has deferred the continuation of the cross-examination to the next hearing date.
The Rouse Avenue Court is currently recording prosecution evidence in connection with the Pul Bangash case, which pertains to the killing of three Sikhs in the area on November 1, 1984.
