Hyderabad Couple Arrested For Livestreaming Sexual Acts To Pay Daughters’ Education Fees

Hyderabad: A couple from Hyderabad has been arrested for allegedly livestreaming their sexual acts through a mobile app in exchange for money, police said on Thursday. The arrests were made from Mallikarjuna Nagar in Amberpet, and authorities seized several items, including high-definition cameras, mobile phones, and financial records.

During interrogation on Friday, the couple told the police that they resorted to this act due to severe financial distress. They said they were unable to afford their daughters’ college education and the husband’s medical expenses.

According to a report, the couple’s daughters are academically bright — one is currently in her second year of a B.Tech program, while the other recently scored 468 out of 470 in her intermediate exams and is preparing for college admission.

The husband, 41, works as a car driver, while his 37-year-old wife is a homemaker. Police said they wore masks during the livestreams to conceal their identities. The couple reportedly shared links to the videos with paying users on the app.

Pricing and Operation:

According to police, the couple offered both live sessions for ₹2,000 and recorded clips for ₹500. Most of their audience comprised young app users. Investigators said they earned more from this activity than from the husband’s driving job.

Acting on a tip-off, the East Zone Task Force conducted a raid on June 17 and caught the couple in a semi-nude state, preparing to go live. They were arrested on the spot. Phones, tripods, and digital payment logs were seized, officials confirmed.

Legal Action:

A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Information Technology Act, and further investigation is underway. Police have also issued notices to individuals who purchased videos from the couple.

The couple admitted they began this activity as a quick means to earn money, driven by their financial situation and educational responsibilities. According to The Times of India, they had been operating for several months before getting caught.
