August 2, 2025: The much-anticipated trailer for superstar Rajinikanth’s upcoming film, ‘Coolie’, was officially released on Saturday at a star-studded audio launch event held at Chennai’s Nehru Indoor Stadium. The film, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, is now set to hit theaters on the Independence Day weekend, August 14.
The trailer gives fans a glimpse into the action-packed story of Deva, a former gold smuggler played by Rajinikanth. The film’s engaging plot revolves around his quest to revive his old gang using stolen technology hidden in vintage golden watches.
‘Coolie’ boasts a stellar cast, including Bollywood actor Aamir Khan in the role of Dahaa, along with Nagarjuna Akkineni, Pooja Hegde, Shruti Haasan, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, and Sathyaraj. The music, composed by Anirudh Ravichander, has already created a buzz, with the two songs released so far, ‘Chikitu’ and ‘Monica’, garnering immense praise and millions of views online.
Notably, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has given ‘Coolie’ an A certificate. The film will face a major box office clash with YRF’s ‘War 2’, starring Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR, and Kiara Advani, which is also scheduled for an August 14 release.
